Certified Mail Service FAQ
This service will print and mail documents (via USPS Certified Mail) to the recipient(s) provided. You will receive email notifications of the tracking information related to the letter. The letters are mailed with Electronic Return Receipt Requested.
Certified Mail: Provides proof of mailing at the time of mailing and the date and time of delivery or attempted delivery.
Electronic Return Receipt: Provides electronic notification with evidence of delivery (to whom the mail was delivered and date of delivery), along with information about the recipient's actual delivery address.
FAQ
When will my letter be shipped?
When will the recipients receive the letter?
Availability of the recipient may also impact delivery time because certified mail ensures the correct recipient receives the letter. If the recipient is not available at the time of the delivery, or the recipient does not pick up mail promptly from the PO Box, it could delay the delivery of the certified mail.
My letter still hasn't been delivered, what can I do?
Please be aware that USPS Certified Mail has shown many inconsistencies in scanning deliveries. For example, the USPS tracking information will remain "In Transit" if USPS fails to finish scanning the letter and you won't receive delivery confirmation.
- "Delivery Attempted - Action needed" - Dlivery was attempted for the letter but the intended recipient is not available at the time of delivery. The recipient should have received a notice for the letter so they can request redelivery. YOu may also request redelivery directly on the USPS tracking website.
- "In Transit - Arriving Late" - The letter is still in the USPS system and it has not been scanned in the last couple of days; It's possible the letter has already been delivered to the intended party without a destination scan.
- "Undeliverable - Return to Sender" - Attempted deliveries were made to the recipient but the recipient was not available. This can happen if the recipient is not at the destination address since Certified Mail requires the intended recipient to receive the letter, OR the address provided was insufficient. The return address on the letter is the sender's address when the letter was created.
If you believe USPS has lost your letter, you may submit a missing mail request directly through USPS ( https://www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm). This will expedite the process of USPS locating the letter and delivering it to its destination.
