The agreement for service is unenforceable under the Statute of Frauds defense because the service could not be completed within one year pursuant to the terms of the agreement or because of the nature of the service, and at least one of the following is true:

(1) you did not sign the agreement in some form (even by just initialing it),

(2) the agreement is not in writing (even informal), or

(3) “essential terms” are not included in the agreement:

• the contracting parties;
• the description of what would be provided (services or property); and
• any other terms that would affect the result of how the dispute would be decided (for example, your agreement may contain a “time is of the essence” term setting deadlines for performance, meaning that the other party’s performance within a specified time frame was required to trigger your performance obligation).
